Simon is our Managing Partner. He has a variety of accounting experiences which he brings to Aysgarth Chartered Accountants.

Simon trained with an independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Leeds. Immediately on qualifying as a chartered accountant Simon was promoted and started to manage a portfolio of clients. He got on so well with his clients that one of them offered him a role in their company.

Over the next six years Simon saw the business grow from sales of £3 million to £13 million. During that time Simon was promoted to Financial Director. The business imported and distributed consumer goods and traded in foreign currencies.

Simon then joined an internet retailer as Financial Director. In both companies Simon was involved in the project management of moving to new accounting packages.

Looking for a new challenge Simon returned to the accounting profession, using his practical experience to help small and medium sized businesses. After being a partner in a national firm and then a regional firm Simon wanted to focus on looking after owner managed businesses and decided the best way to do that was to start with a clean sheet of paper, so to that end Aysgarth Chartered Accountants was born.

Simon has spent all his working life in Yorkshire – mainly in and around Leeds. When he is not working his family keeps him busy; he is also a Christian and enjoys cycling, both on his mountain bike and on his road bike.
